Well, I guess this is just a little horn tooting on my part, but, I finally found the load my little .22-250 likes!

I had tried different charges, bullets, depths, primers, etc for this rifle with little improvement and lots of disappointment. Recently, I've been attempting to reduce the different powders in my inventory, and have been trying to find what all I can use IMR-4895 in. Well, the .22-250 is one of them!! WOO_HOO!!!

I had worked up 4 different loads with 55 gr Sierra SPT Varminter. Without messing around tuning the charge, seating depth or anything; 34.0 grains IMR4895 produced 1 sub-MOA 5 shot group. I was ecstatic!! I finished off the other loads I had, none with quite equally stellar performance, and promptly went back inside to load up more of the same.

I fired 15 rounds @ 100 yards and except for 2 flyers which I called, there was one neat tidy hole just a scoche over 1 inch!!!

Perhaps if I can borrow a digital camera and figure out how to use it, I can post a picture, but, I just wanted to brag a little bit. Thanks for letting me!

I call it a "dogger"....something worthy of taking prairie dog shooting!

Congrats on a fine shooter.....it gives one a warm fuzzy feeling knowing he can hit a dime at 100 yards when he does his job!
Thanks for posting!

No prairie dogs around here. I would like to go out west and do that one of these days.

We do, however, have groundhogs here, just not in the abundance of one would see PD's. I did manage to decapitate 7 hogs Saturday Smiler
