After 46 years of owning .22-250's, 2005 is the year I WILL own one which will shoot sub-3/4", dependably. I know everybody else has had one or a dozen that will...I just never have. So, as a start, please tell me your best Ball Powder load, and your best Extruded Powder load for that critter. I've got two of them in the vault, and by gosh one of them can probably do the trick with just the right load. (One is a Remington BA with aftermarket varmint-weight barrel, the other is a Browning BA varmint-weight with a B.O.S.S.) BTW, I'd sure like to learn the OAL of your loaded cartridge too, as I think that is a very important variable. If there's anything else you think is critical, please toss that in too... TIA for all your help. Alberta Canuck

I have to load some more for my pards rig,..so I have no OAL for you. But,..with 38.5gr of H380 and a 52gr sierra match king seated .020" off the lands (to have some in the case) his rem 700vls is .5moa for sure and well under quite often. You can bet that 38.0gr and up to 39.5gr will find you a superb rig. Now,..my frined who has done a LOT of BOSS work,..says that he takes the factory sweet spot setting,..and LOCKS it in place,..THEN works the load to fit the setting.

My brother and I both have had good luck with H4895 over 50gr V-maxes. I tried several different loads, but the load right on the canister has worked best for us. My gun and his gun uses a different OAL, but both go well under MOA @ 100 yds. He has a Savage FV that's super accurate with the load above. Last week my wife shot .6 inch group at 200 yds with his gun and that load. My Tikka usually goes around 1.25 inches @200 yds. That's the only powder bullet combo that I've tried, but it works so I stopped looking.

h380 is the bomb in the 22-250 it meters extremely well so if you produce a volume of ammo I would use it exclusivley. I think the bullet is the most important factory in accuracy, start with 38grn of h380 and take your pick between the vmax or blitzking bullets and you should be well on your way

Alberta Canuck, Back in the day(1962),I bought a 722 in 22/250 from my Gunsmith and along with it came some loaded ammo, brass, and misc. It was loaded with 35.5gr of IMR 4895, 55gr Sierra spitzers,CCI primers,WW cases. I was impressed with the accuracy. Over the years I have used that load in several 22/250's. In a decent rifle(40x)it shoots .250 or there abouts. Pretty fast too. I presently have two 22/250AI's and IMR 4895 works very well in those as well. Stepchild
