Primer flipped over when I was pressing it into the case. Is there soething I can soak this case in so that when I deprime it the primer will not go off? Founding member of the 7MM STW club Member of the Texas Cull Hunters Association

This one is easy. Put a drop of oil on primer, stand case primer up for a couple of days and then deprime.

Two ways... #1 just deprime as normal, but very s lo w l y and wear safety glasses no big deal.. Another way #2. (heard of this method but never tried it) fill case with water, as you resize it, the expander ball seals the neck while forcing/pressure will push out the primer.. But go with #1 it's really no big deal.. Or if your really worried..#3. Just throw the damn thing away.. MopaneMike

Happened to me the other day. I just threw a towel over the press and deprimed as usual. Worked fine. Pete "Be kind to your neighbor, he knows where you live."

That's the way I do it except I don't use the towel; I just look the other way.

You can deprime a live primer with no danger. Flipping primers drove me nuts until I found the source. My shell holder was not perfectly aligned with the primer arm. The spring losded cup on the priming arm would drag a bit then snap up. It flipped the primer once in a while. Any primer feed could have similar problems. Good Luck!

This happens at times, I`ve switched to a Lee hand tool and found it occures much less often then useing my press. One of Hornadies or the RCBS tool likely will work better too. I deprime on my press with a universal deprimer. Go slow and be sure to wear safety glasses. I don`t know how many I have knocked out over the years, over a dozen, but I haven`t had one pop yet on me. This isn`t to say it can`t occure, the towel idea is probably a good one. ------------------------------------ The trouble with the Internet is that it's replacing masturbation as a leisure activity. ~Patrick Murray "Why shouldn`t truth be stranger then fiction? Thanks for the replies. I guess I am just to cheap to just throw away a good case. I will try the put towell around the case and slowly deprime with safty glasses. Founding member of the 7MM STW club Member of the Texas Cull Hunters Association

Yup....I've deprimed a hundred maybe this way....it works but protect the eyes just in case. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Nah, I have never done this. At least not admit to this. My primers always go in straight. Especially after I quit using a press for priming about 38 years ago. The last time I didn't do this I had a C press and used my foot on the lever to remove the upside down primer. Actually this is probably much safer than decapping GI brass with live crimped in primers.

I have noticed when this happened to me also,if i found a primer cup holder that had thinner walls on it,so it didn,t rub on the shaft keyways that it would stop this from happening.van

If one is really cheap like me, you can even reuse the primer, at least for target shooting. I have had it happen several times and they always went bang, even when a little deformed. I always wear glasses when handling primes.

When this happens to me I save it until I have several, then load and shoot them in my reverse firing pin weapons. They don't make factory ammo for these anymore, so when it does happen it comes in handy!
