Hi guys .... I've had a few years experience reloading various rifle calibres on a Dillon 550 but want to venture into inline dies and an arbor press. Wilson do not offer a 6.5x57 inline neck die or bullet seater but I am curious to know if the 6mm Rem/257 Roberts is an option. Could it be used successfully with the correct diameter Wilson or Redding bushing for neck sizing? Would it's twin seater work with the correct 6.5 stem and top?. I would appreciate some advice on a compromise rather than contemplate reaming out a blank.

wouldn't it be easier to use a 7.5x55 and just back it off a bit??

The 6.5-284 Winchester die set should work, the sizing die is short enough to neck size only and the seating die can be adjusted high enough to seat the bullet without the case body touching the dies.

Send an email to Wilson and see what they recommend. You might also send a copy of the 6.5X57 dimensions. I can assure you Wilson knows their business and tools very well.

Thanks for the input, no help from Wilson to date. My thoughts that another neck die based on the 7x57 Mauser family would be a good option as the body taper and length of the chamber would be the same but with perhaps a slight difference in shoulder angle. I had reasoned that as long as the correct size of Wilson or Redding neck bushing was used it could be a work-around. The same thinking with the seater die with swapping over to the correct 6.5mm seating stem. Am I on the right track?

Alan,if you are neck sizing only a 6.5x55 die will do the job. I have seen it done.

If you have a few fired cases mail them to me
and I will try them in my dies.
I have 3 of the dies used for the 7X57 and 6mm Rem.
You are on the right track. The 6mm Rem has 26 degree shoulder angle - much sharper than the Robert or 7X57. All 3 work in the same die.
