I have sized hornady brass and new Westley Richards WR loaded ammo bought from Old West Scrounger and I noticed the brass is shaped different. The shoulder is designed different enough that they are not interchangeable. I must be missing something. Any ideas on why this is?

I'm new. It is 450-400 3". Sorry.

There is a big difference between the "shoulder" location of new brass and fired brass in my 450 No2 and my 450/400 3 1/4". As long as it fits the chamber there should not be a problem as the 450/400 will headspace on the rim. After firing all the cases will fireform the "shoulder" to your chamber. Then resize as normal. Well, the shoulder of the Hornady 450/400 3" dies is about 0.15" further from the base than the new Hornady cartridge, which is close to the CIP spec. So how is this Hornady die re-sized case going to fit in a tight 450/400 CIP chamber? ------------------------------- Will / Once you've been amongst them, there is no such thing as too much gun. --------------------------------------- and, God Bless John Wayne.
