The title says it all really, I will be using Lapua brass, Benchmark and 50 gr V-Max and primers to suit my Sako Heavy barreled 222. The reason I was wondering about primers is that I shoot a 22 Hornet and have found CCI 450 sm mag primers work much better after many weeks of developing a load using standard primers, so I am trying to avoid doing that again. Many thanks in advance, Bob

Each gun is a rule unto itself. That said my .22 Hornet loads utilize CCI Small Pistol Primers. My .222 Rem loads are on the Old Federal Match Brass, 20.0g of IMR-4198, 50g Hornady SX and CCI BR-4. Some say there is no need to use Bench Rest primers as there is no diffrence except in price. I can report my groups are slightly smaller. Is it the primers or me??? I prefer to think it's the primer. I have not found the need for mag primers in these small cases. My recomendation for what it's worth is stick with the standard primers. Scout Master 54

Scout Master 54 has about said it all, and if you can aford Lapua brass you might as well use a bench rest primer, at least until you prove to your self something else is better. jl.

I have a pair of 222's (Rem's). I've tried 'em all and Remington 7 1/2 BR's give excellent results.
