I have a new Savage 110FP in 25-06 and can't get light bullets to group very well. The 120's will shoot almost the same hole at 100 yards. The 75 V Max shoot about 1.5" at 100 yards. I have tried different powders, bullets, primers and lengths, none shoot like the 120's. I need a praire dog load for this spring. If you have any experience with this gun and caliber please share your success. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Can't give you any info on your particular rifle/load, but just some of my personal experience. I have a Savage 10FP in 308, my friend has the same model rifle, same caliber, same purchase date. I shoot 1 hole 3 round groups at 100 yards with a 168 grain bullet and varget powder. The smallest group we can get out of his with the same powder and bullet is 1.02 inches at 100 yards and we have worked all possible loads from min to max in 1/10th grain increments for his using varget. We have not found a load that works as well for his using varget and 168 grain noslers, but switching to imr 4064 decreased the best group to .75 inches. I would suggest trying different weight bullets or a different powder. Another thing to look at is the stock. If your rifle has the Savage synthetic stock, check the fore end. All Savage rifles I have seen with the Savage synthetic stock have been extremely flimsy. I know my particular model was/is available with a Savage, McMillan, or Choate stock, not familar enough with yours to know the stock options. I don't like to link to other forums, but. One more thing to try is posting on the Savage Shooters forum at savageshooters.com. They are Savage enthusiasts and have a wealth of knowledge that is Savage specific. Hope this helps NRA Life Member

I believe the twist rate on the Savage 110 is 1:10. This is a little on the fast side for the lighter 25 caliber bullets.

I replaced the stock on my Savage 110FP with a Bell and Carlson Duramax stock. It was a drop in.

I own a 2506 and it prooved to be picky like yours. It took me 2 seasons to get an accurate varmit load. I too could shoot the heavier bullets better. I feel powder choice is more critical with the 2506 than many other calibers. The best loads for my gun are a 85 gr nosler bt or a 87 berger mef over 56gr RL 19. If that doesn't work try 100 gr sierra match over 54 gr h 4831 If that doesn't work. Sell it

With a 1:10 twist, it is not so much the weight of the bullet but the length of the bullet. Try the Barnes TripleX, 100 grain bullet. It is about as long as most 117 grain bullets. That is an inexpensive way to try to tighten your groups. Garrett
