I have only reloaded for shotgun cartridges, never for any rifle rounds.
I was wondering if there are any extra considerations (above and beyong loading for the .308 Win for example) that need to be made when loading the 416 Remington.

sure..
make certain, even you don't crimp, to "lightly" crimp the case mouth to make a roll.. it will feed and load easier...

(assuming you are right handed) watch the tip of your left index finger.. not kidding...

No different than any other bottle-necked case.

Reloader 15 is all you need. The 416 Rem has the same expansion ratio as the .308 Win so the same powders work well in both.

For hot climates use lightly compressed loads of H4350 with 400 grainers. Pressure is lower and insensitive to temp changes, while velocity is 2400+.

Seeing as how you are not an experienced reloader of rifle cartridges, here are some hints:

1) Do use case lube on the cases ... but too much will cause problems.

2) Use a moderate starting load. The .416 Rem is not a bazooka, but can be a bit bracing if you're not use to heavy recoil rifles. No need to start with a load that could cause more problems than you need. Weigh each charge.

3) Chamfer the case mouths. Allows the bullet to go into the case easier and reduced the likelihoods of crushing the mouth of a cartridge.

4) Lube the inside of the case mouth before seating the bullets. Makes them go in easier.

5) Make sure you use the overall lenght specified in the loading manual when seating the bullet. The deeper the bullet is seated, the higher the pressure will tend to be. Record the OAL length you use.

6) Clean loaded rounds carefully to remove any case lube ... or tumble the sized cases before priming and loading them.

re15 is good, also give BLC(2) a try - I get very consistent fps and very accurate loads shooting the 350 grain mag tip and the 400 grain partition with remington brass - as stated, work up from a starting load in your rifle - KMule

80gr Reloader 15 and 350 grain Speer Mag Tips make great practice ammo. This is a light load in my rifle, but please start at a lower weight load, and work up to something that works well for you.
