Has anyone else had trouble getting brass (both lapua and federal gold) to seat into the rcbs power trimmer. I have noticed on certain rounds the head seems to be thicker than others and it is a pain to get it behind the shellholder (03 for 308). Is there a trick that I am overlooking? Thanks for any help.

I don't have the power trimmer, but I do have the RCBS Pro-Trim (?). Has the handle you press down to release, right? AFA I know the actually tool is the same. I don't use Lapua, but I have trimmed quite a bit of Federal GM and most other brands with no problems. Maybe something is binding the spring before it's completely compressed.

I have the manual Trim Pro also and mine has had no problems with several brands of brass....BUT you may have a too thick shell plate or one other poster had "Too many of the washers that are used for springs in the head,to allow some shells to fit? does yours bind on the sides of the opening in the plate or between the plate and the face of the holder unit? I made a wooden saddle "U" mount for a electric rechargeable screwdriver to power the trimmer and mounted them on a board and cut a slide rail inlet in the board and put round studs in the bottom of the mount to let the screwdriver/mount slide and power the trimmer....much cheaper than the 140$RCBS wants for the power unit...good luck and good shooting!!!
