What would be a good rule of thumb in regards to primer pocket depth?
I am reloading "once fired" .280 brass and 4x reloaded .300wm.

In both lots of brass i am seeing some pocket depths exceeding .0133, some up towards .0144.
I am trying to determine at what depth to start throwing brass out?

I am guessing ~.0132 would a good limit....not sure though

I got the following information on the web, but unfortunately did not record the site:

Got out the old digatal electronic caliper and checked a few primers for width from the face to the anvil side that rests against the primer pocket.
CCI 250 large rifle magnum 0.127
CCI 300 Large pistol 0.119
CCI 350 Large pistol mag 0.122
CCI 200 Large rifle 0.128
Winchester WLR O.131
Winchester WLP 0.118
Federal 210 large rifle 0.131
If you were using a CCI 350 Large pistol primer in your .44 and then used the CCI 200 standard rifle in it there would only be .006 difference in hieght.
When I went from the CCI 350 to the federal 210 I gained .009 and the primer was still below the case rim. I will have some test results soon.

As Butchloc says. If it were mine I'd be shooting it not measuring the depth of the primer pocket.

As usual just my $.02

I`ve never had case a pocket uniformer didn`t take some metal off the bottom of the pocket.
Just shoot them and don`t sweat it

If you are a bench rest shooter, then you do "sweat" it, just ordered a K&M primer gauge tool that displays seating depth on a analog dial gauge. Just a entry level BR shooter, trying to do what the "big boys" do.
