I have a XP-100R in 260 Rem. I have loaded some rounds with IMR-3031,but at 38 grs. the max I get is 2650 fps with a 120 gr. Nosler BT. I've gone as much as 40 grs. with no change. There is no sign of pressure yet. I'm needing advice or loading data for a faster burning powder. I'm thinking about IMR4198 or H322. Does anyone have any advise or loading data to give me? I'm trying to reach 2800+ fps. as long as the pressure is not to high. Thanks, Todd tdcooper1@msn.com

tdcooper, Try 36 to 39 grains of Varget with the 120's. Should get you right in there where you want to be in the velocity department. GHD

Todd, you don`t want a faster powder. Check your manuals and try one of the powders shown that gives top vel there. I use R19 and H4831sc for most of my 260 rifle loads. The slower powders burn in the the first couple of inches of your barrel, similar to the faster ones, but keep the push on the bullet at higher pressure longer down the barrel. I think I`d try something in the 4350 - R19 range. I`m not sure of your bbl lenght but I`d keep in mind also you most likely won`t get the same velocities shown in the books from a handgun lenght barrel. I don`t know how much you`ll lose but I would expect about 200fps or so from what a 24" would give.
