I used that bullet for years in my Rem 700 and it worked great. Accuracy was fine and the terminal results were fairly obvious to me and to the deer. Ranges were from 50 yards to approximately 400. However, one problem I ran into several times, with the Hornady and the Nosler Partitions, is the amount of bloodshot meat and bone damage if bones were hit. If you shoot behind the leg into the lungs, you probably won't have a lot of problems, but it you are like me and like to take out the front wheels, you should probably consider loading it down a couple hundred feet below max. All in all, though, I was pretty happy with the 25-06 and the Hornady bullets of all weights. In fact, since I shot out the 25-06 barrel, I now have a Hart 25-284 barrel on that same rifle and it will be using approximately the same recipes for deer sized game.- Sheister

At top speeds and ranges inside 150 yards, the Hornady 100 grainer certainly does produce a bit of bloodshot meat, but on thin-skiined game such as deer and pronghorn, you still get plenty of penetration to do the job quickly and humanely. Personally, I prefer the 115-120 grain bullets as I think they make the 25-06 shine, but that 100 grain Hornady will serve your purpose quite well.

I forgot to add: I used the Hornady 100 grainer in a .257 AI for a couple of years, and from the 26" barrel, velocities were within 75-100 fps of what a 25-06 could produce. I took a few 100-175 pound exotics with that combo, and from what I remember, I got one-shot kills and exits in each instance. Coyotes are what I remember best, though, and silver-dollar exits were generally the norm (most were taken from 75-250 yards) with the exception of one that I shot at app. 20 yards. The bullet centered the shoulder and did not exit. I did not try and recover the bullet as this coyote had a bit of a mange problem.

Gidday Pop, I shot a Chamois last year with the 100 gr SP IN 25-06 at a range of about 200 meters. Shot the animal just behind the front shoulder and it dropped instantly then stood up and fell over again. When I got to the animal it was stone dead. The bullet was on the opposite side under the skin. load AR2213SC (h4831sc)48.5 gr est vel 3000 win brass win primer Hornady SP I now load this round with 54 gr, est vel 3150 For my long range load now Nosler BT 100 GR ar2213sc 54.5 gr est vel 3150 win brass win primer No animals shot with this load yet but under 1/2 moa.
