I just saw an article in American Rifleman on the new 7mm and 30 caliber short mags. Between these and the WSM there is going to be some serious wildcatting going on. Has anyone actually tried any of these yet?

personally, i'm waiting for one and only one wild cat to come out (although the 300 WSM seems interesting) a WSM necked down to 6.5mm. That looks like a lot of long range fun for paper tigers, varmints, and maybe the occasional pronghorn...once i get up the money for a western pronghorn hunt...

I just read where Winchesters short mag is selling 10 to 1 over Remintons ulti mag, hence the sudden jump into the short mag game. a 300 WSM rimed in a mod 71 winchester sounds fun to me.

I am interested in the 6.5/300wsm as well. I was going to build a 6.5/284 but might a while.
For all the hype with these new cartridges, there seems to be very little information and even less brass available. If anyone has any info at all on the 6.5/300wsm, please post it here.

300 WSM brass is available from wideners at http://www.wideners.com Yoe won't see any of the rem SAUM rounds around until mid sept.

My 300 WSM Btowning composite stalker is working real well. I am extremely happy with it.
