Who uses N150 for 30-06 loads and who prefers N160? I tried both and in my Blaser B95 it looks like N160 is too slow for 150-165 gr. bullets.(erratic accuracy and heavy muzzle blast) I found N160 performing well with 200 GR. NP but have not tried 180 gr. yet. Any comments based on experience are more than welcome.

For a bullet as light as 150 grs, you probably need a powder a bit faster than N160 in a .30-06. I can't tell you whether N150 is it, as I have never used that powder myself. I regularly use N160 in the .30-06 for 180 grs, though. - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon... Reindeer, a quick check with Quickload 3.2 confirms your doubts; N160 seems to be a little slow for the 30-06 and 150/165 gr. bullets. N150/N550 should be a better choice.

N150!!! In both my 6.5x55 and 7x57 it was easily the most accurate powder available. I became somewhat speed obsessed with my 30-06 trying RL19, VVN550 and H4350 nothing grouped well at all. In desperation and with very few bullets left I put together loads using 150gr hornady interbonds and 150gr nosler partition golds. The results were repeatable 0.5" accuracy and MV of 2,850fps from the worn and pitted 24" barrel made in 1957. Charge weight was 54gr which depending on which book you read is either at max or about a grain over (hugely long throat as well) It will not give you the highest velocity but it is likely to give you extremely good accuracy and little muzzle flash.

1894MK2, I used exactly the same bullet and the same load with N150 and got similar results! So I am now convinced that N150 is the powder for lighter bullets in 30-06

Its not a 30-06 but I load N160 in my 309JDJ (444 Marlin necked down to 30) in a 14 inch Contender and have excellent reselts. Dang flyer!!! Pic is three shots @ 100yds.
