Whatever happened to the system everyone was rushing to out to buy without delay? Did Remington ever develop this electronic ingnition system and is it still available in new guns? NO, thank you, I'm not interested in buying one. As an aside, I once purchased 1,000 "once fired" .30-30 cases (all Remington) from Southern Belle Brass and several hundred of the cases appeared to be new primed empties. The primers looked like they had a partial shell or bushing around them. Is that an E-Tronix primer?

Take a perfectly good platform (Remington 700), give it a brand-new electronic firing system (no matter how good, there's a possibility of failure), and up the cost of ammunition: a sure way to watch sales dwindle. I think the whole principle was to reduce lock time, but I think it was a solution for a problem that wasn't really a problem for most people... Remington has discontinued the Etronix rifles... and the ammo as well so If you have one , youd better stock up now.

It sounds like the EtronX primer although they were never offered in 30-30. Must have been someone's goof-up. The primers are sold separately and run about $100 per thousand (ouch!). The EtronX was an answer to a question no one asked. Its a pretty reliable system (I bought one when they got cheap) but you do need change the battery before you try to do something important with the gun. They die at the most inconvenient moments . MartyW has mine right now rebarreling it to 458 SOCOM after which its getting a nice big suppressor. With the silent ignition and a well tuned silencer I will be a coyote-killin' SOB... That said I am saving the original barrel. Never know if a low-production mistake will turn into a collectable one day.
