I reload for my 300 WM, had the best pet load data, then had rifle re-barreled at GA Precision. Since then i have tried Reloader 25, 4831sc and h1000.......all different grains from middle to max.......to no avail. I have been out of reloading for a few years and cant remember ho0w to pin point my most accurate load

BT, tell us a little more about what you are trying to do.

What bullets are you using, what are you going to kill. I sure the forum is full of idea's for you.

A very effective load development method is the ladder method, developed by Creighton Audette.

Start with the beginning (low) recommended load and load one round each, stepping up .2 to .5 grains of powder (depending upon the size of case). Needless to say, you should watch for pressure signs as the load increases. Shoot for group while plotting POI (point of impact) of each round carefully. At some point in the string, you will find several rounds forming a small group. Pick the center load in this cluster to experiment with. If you have a chronograph, you will probably note a flat spot in the velocities of these rounds, also. Dispersion of these strings will be more evident if fired at 300 yards, but I have used the method successfully @ 100 yds with aid of a chronograph.

1) started out with 67grains, 5 rds, 3" apart, 20 minute cool down
then tried 68gr, just as bad, 20 minute cool down. 69gr, little better, but all 5 rds in 3.5" circle

2)then for arguments sake, dropped in three factory 300 WIN MAG FEDERAL 180GR TRIPLE SHOCK X rounds, to my suprise and the first time, 2" group

3) waited for barrel to cool then tried the same data as above but with RL22 at 5 rds of the following71.5, 72.5 and 73, only to gruop worse than the 4831sc

I must've been very fortunate with my 25-06 and my older barrel, as it took me only two times to find the pet load

SO....with this information two weeks before my buffalo hunt, i bought a box of the Federal rounds and took my buffalo at 310yds and 15min windage

Well, you're shooting at 200 yards and getting 1 to 1.5 MOA 5 shot groups which many would consider acceptable accuracy. It's possible the rifle may not do much better than that.

Not that it's guaranteed to do any better than what you've tried but the following is a load that has worked well for me:



I've found that the range of powder weights for best accuracy with H4831SC is fairly narrow. I also tried bullet weights over and under 200 grains and the 200 gr. Accubonds worked best for me.

BT, the 215M's are a really hot primers. In my .338, H4831sc will not group with them at all. Give groups kind of like you describe. After switching to WRMP or CCI 200's the issue resolved itself.

I would also shoot 3 shot groups at 1/2 grain increments until you found something promising. Only then would I up it to a five shot groups.
