Hello, my name is Tony, and I am new to this forum.

I am currently working with a partner on developing a silver bullet. Here is some pictures of the first run, .357 Magnum and .38 Special.

These bullets are actually 6% silver and 94% tin.

I am currently looking for a few good men to make some silver fly. You will need to determine the weight of the bullet, a proper charge, and test fire them. Documentation and pictures will be required, and video would be a bonus.

5 castings of either .357 Magnum, .38 Special or .45-70 will be sent to the chosen people.

Please keep this topic clean.

I am looking to accept several people ASAP, you will receive them in the mail ASAP.

Thanks,

Tony

Would you like to test 5 through a 458 Lott? I assume the casting diameter is .459? What weight are the 45-70 bullets?

I have a Mauser chambered in 45-70. Would be interested in testing some upper end loads in 45-70. I can chrono the loads and do photos, can't help you on the video. Send me a PM if you think I qualify.

I have a Redhawk in 357 Mag, suspect it would do nicely with the 2X Leupold EER on it. Let me know if you want me to do some of the testing...

Well the only person who has asked for some bullets so far is craigster and he received 7 the other day. I'm looking forward to his response in this thread!

Mr. Torque, Was that a typo? Are you only sending "7" bullets to each person?

No. For killing werewolves, pure silver is required for the bullet metal. This poses a real problem for your run-of-the-mill werewolf hunter, because standard casting equipment can't heat silver up enough to get good, filled-out castings. I just cannmot fathom how the hell the Lone Ranger got his campfire hot enough to make the silver bullets he used.

FWIW several years ago a gun magazine, not sure which one, did an article on silver bullets. They found that when cast in regular bullet moulds that the silver shrunk more than lead when cooling and therefore were undersized. Your mix of tin might cancel that out, but just thought I would throw this comment in. By the way, they were using pure silver.

I am not an expert, but I would like to try some of you bullets in a 45-70, and maybe a 458WM.

Here are my questions?
How much do your bullets weigh?
How hard are your bullets?
Do you have a reccomended load?
What are you expecting when I shoot these into a soft target?
What are you expecting when I shoot these into a hard target?

Here is what I have:
I have a chronograph
I have corbin gel (fun stuff to shoot)
I have access to other more solid stuff to shoot.
I have a Browning 1886 Lever gun. Brass, powder, reloading stuff.
I have a bolt action rifle in 458wm, still in the box, no sights, no scope mounts, no scope, no reloading supplies.
I have a helter skelter work schedule, so I may or may not be able to test these immediatly.

IMHO, 5 rounds is not enough to do a complete workup. I could use 5 rounds up just working on accuracy, or I could use 5 rounds working on pen tests in soft material (mushroom tests), or I could use 5 rounds working on pen test on hard materials or 5 rounds pushing the bullet as fast as possible (reading the brass). You need to tell me what you are looking for or send me enough that I can do multiple tests. (Soft target, and pushing the bullets is probably the easiest tests)

Mr Torque ; Curious as to how the experiments are coming ?. Any data feed back yet ?.

Curious as to why Sliver ?. Kind of pricey these days . I'll refrain from any of the usual Werewolf jokes .

Best of luck . ... salute

Over the weekend I was finally able to get out and test the Silver Bullets Tony sent me.

They weigh in at 285grs, and measured .458-.459". As far as hardness goes, I'm guessing some where between #2 alloy and linotype (15-22 BHN). I don't have access to a hardness tester. Physical size is pretty close to a Rem 405gr SP. Nice looking bullets.

As I only had 7 bullets for testing I used 3 for one load and 4 for another. As a "control" load I used a 3 shot group of Rem 405gr SP factory loads which are very accurate in my rifle.

The bullets were tumble lubed with Lee Liquid Alox and loaded as cast, w/o gaschecks.

The rifle is a Siam Mauser 98, 25.5" Douglass bbl (1-22" twist) with a Burris 1x4 scope.

Groups were fired @ 75yds with the scope set at 4x. Velocity readings were taken 10 ft from the muzzle.

I chose R-7 as the powder as it has worked well for me with lighter bullets in the 45-70.

285 Silver, 45.0 grs R-7, 1800 fps (avg)
3 shot group = .680"

285 Silver, 50.0 grs R-7, 2014 fps (avg)
4 shot group = 1.113"

405 Rem 405 SP (control load), 1199 fps (avg)
3 shot group = .529"

No excessive pressure signs, no signs of fouling.

Obviously, 2 loads and 7 bullets isn't gonna tell us a whole lot, but they were accurate in my rifle.

I emailed pics of the target to Tony, maybe he will post them here. I will be happy to mail them to anyone else here who would like to see them.

Hey Craig, I never did get a response from Mr. Torque in my above question.

Anyway, I totally agree that even though your Test Results apparently are OK, I'm not sue what is accomplished with "7-bullets".

If he had sent you 250-500 so you could actually Develop a Load and fine tune it, then there would be at least one Significant Sample.

Any idea what they think 500 will cost?
