I just picked up a Ruger in 416 Rigby and wanted to start reloading for it. How do the different brass companies like Norma, A-Square, and Jamison compare? I planned on using Nosler Partitions or Swift A-Frames. Any recommendations there? Last question was about using a full length sizer on new brass but how about a neck sizer on shot brass, is that worth it? Thanks

Have just used Norma brass for the .416 Rigby. Good stuff. I have used Jamison (BeLL) in the .470. Also good stuff.

I have used the 350 Barnes X exclusively in the Rigby. Has taken Gemsbock, Hartebeast, Cape Buffalo, and Bison. Very, very effective bullet. No need for a Nosler in this caliber. A-Frames also have a good reputation.

I run all new brass through a full length sizer the first time. Have neck sized some ... but all ammo that is going hunting is full length sized and is always chamber checked before the trip. One cannot risk a failure to chamber.

The .416 Rigby is a terrifically effective caliber. Have fun with it!

I´ve so far only used Norma brass and a friend just sent me 100 new cases as a present so it doesn´t look like I´ll be switching any time soon. Cases don´t seem to wear out quickly but then again I only shoot a couple of shots now and then to stay in form.

I have only used the Jamison .416 Rigby cases so far. They are satisfactory, and of course, cost a little less than Norma stuff!

Go with the Swift A-Frame bullets over the Nosler Partitions in .416

I use my old A-Square brass for practice loads with lead bullets only. They don't seem to hold up so well.

Thanks for the replies. It gives me a good starting point. Do any of you guys run into excessive copper fouling with the Barnes or Swifts? I think I will try the Jamison brass first and load some Barnes and Swift bullets.
