Hello, need help with a new gun
. Have a new Ruger Mark 2 375 H&H. Have been reloading for a few years and never had a problem before but not getting good accuracy so far. If anyone has a similar gun in 375 H&H do you have any suggestions on OAL, powders and primers. I have been using h4895, CCI large rifle magnum primers and BBarnes 300 gr TSX. Any help would be appreciated.

Whenever you get this kind of poorr accuracy, the most likely culprit is the stock bedding, not the ammunition. You need to make sure all guard screws are tight, and that the wood bears evenly on the barrel, or the barrel is free-floating!

Clayman,

Are you getting good accuracy with factory ammo?

Yes. Changed to a magnum primer and some changes to powder weight and all is well.

Try Hornady 300Grain spire points boat tails and seat the bullet in even with the cannalure center and you should get great accuracy with this bullet and H4895 powder and magnum primers..also try Nosler Particians 300Grain bullets..Varget is also a good powder to try.

clay,

You asked.....so expect a broad spectrum of replies.....

If accuracy is good with factory fodder then indicates all's Hoyle with your shooting platform, stock, bedding, scope, mount, rings, barrel, etc. so this obviously not an issue.....

Personally, I consider (please remember this is a personal observation) getting monometal bullets to shoot accurately right off the bat isn't a given. While these bullets have prooven themselves to be extraordinarily accurate & fantastic terminal perfomers; IME they may take more than several tries to get right. Good Luck with your Barnes'.

Some grab 180 RN's in .308" and others Nosler BT's to be used as an accuracy benchmark for a given cartridge or caliber. IMO if a Hornady 300 gr. RN won't shoot accurately in the large number of 375's (O.K. - they have all been H&H's so far) I've tried so far then there's something terminally wrong with the rifle.

I'd suggest trying them, too.

Cheers,
