What is the proper way /procedure for setting up you dies in your press to get ready to reload? I have a set of two RCBS 22-250 dies, do you bring the press to the closed position and screw the dies down till they touch???

RCBS provides good instructions to do this. Best you follow them.

Before you cinch the lock nut for adjusting the dies, bring the ram to the top. Screw the die down until it touches the shell holder. The ram "cams over" at the top. You want to get the die in contact where there is pressure on the die but still enables cam over with moderate pressure. This serves to "square" the die to the boss, and to the shell holder. While still in contact, cinch down the lock nut to maintain "square".

I agree with bob338, and set my dies up the same way for the same reasons. To taylor headspace or necksize only in a FL die, I use Redding competetion shell holders.
