I've been trying to make the Creedmoor shoot with W-760. I have 20 pounds of it.

Everyone uses H-4350 and has stellar results.

I shot Audette's Ladders with the 760 and found nodes but subsequent loadings showed accuracy I can't be happy with.

I broke down and bought an 8# jug of H-4350, loaded an Audette Ladder Test with the 139 Lapua Scenar at .015" off of the rifling, WLR primer, Hornady Brass, powder charged from 41 to 43.6 grains in .2 grain increments.

I shot the test this morning at 330 yards in little to no wind.

As you can see, many of the bullets went into the same holes. Had to drive to the target a few times to match shots to holes. Found a huge node from 42 to 42.8 grains (#'s 6-7-8-9-10) 9 and 10 went into #6's hole. No vertical in that node.

I picked 42.6 grains, loaded 5 the same way and shot them at the next target at 330 yards.

Nice group with only 7/8" of vertical.

Went to 200 to do a seating depth test but the original .015" off the lands was the best giving a .7" or so inch group.

Moral of the Story?

Some things just work and you'll save time by going with the tried and true!

Here's a pic of a sunset at our range....

And a pic of our squad at the last Sporting Rifle Match at Whittington...

Fun Stuff!

What's the rifle?

Too bad about the 760. Hope you don't have much of it.

That is a problem. I have 20 pounds of 760. I use it in a couple of other rifles, but only for hunting. That's more than a lifetime's supply!

The rifle is a Score High Gunsmithing "Paladin" in 6.5 Creedmoor. Brux 8 twist 26" barrel, Score High Tactical Brake, Badger bolt knob and bottom metal with AI magazines, Blueprinted Remington 700 action, McMillan A5 Stock aluminum pillar bedded, Leupold Mark IV 8-25X ERT FF mounted with tactical rings on a 20 MOA base.

Went out later that same day with 50 loaded up to check the drop data out to 760 yards on steel.

Here's a 3 shot group on an 8" steel plate at 560 yards in crosswinds up to 12 1/2 MPH from 3 O'clock.

The scope works well. Here's a 3 shot group at 100 yards after dialing out to 760 yards, then back down:

I chrono'd the load at 2863 to 2900. When checking drop data by shooting, I had to bump the velocity up to about 2925 or so to get the ballistic program to match actual. H4350 at 42.6 grains. This must be one of those "fast" barrels.

You shoot any F-class with it or just tactical?

How do you like the scope for F-class?

I have shot F Class for fun with it, but I don't think it's ideal. The F Class rifles are 20 pounds or something and that's the way to go for accuracy.

I'm not sure what scopes the F Class guys prefer. This scope has the TMR (Tactical Milling Reticle) which is set up with lines on the reticle to mark 1/2 mil and full mil increments instead of just a big ole huge mil dot. On the ends of the reticles before the pickets, the last mil is marked in .2 mil increments for accurate target ranging. Side focus and target knobs in MOA. It is also available with the M5 turrets set up in 1/10 Mil
