Hi Guys -- I am thinking about picking up an RCBS Chargemaster powder measure. I am currently using a Pact scale and Redding 3BR and Redding 10X throwers. These work fine except for two powders that I like to use a lot. That being Blue Dot (flake) and DP86 (large kernel powder). My current method for these powders is to throw under weight and then pinch in a few flakes/kernels to bring it up to charge weight. Works but is not timely. I would be willing to bite on the RCBS 1500 if it will consistently measure these powders to 0.1 grain. What do you think ? thanks kindly, Chris ---------------------------- Happiness is a tight group

I do not have the RCBS 1500, but I do have a Lyman 1200. My Lyman is very accurate. I set the desired charge then double check it on my 505 balance beam. With most powders it is always dead nuts. For some reason a couple of powders always weigh .1 heavy. With those powders I just set the Lyman to dump .1 less than desired charge and I am back to dead nuts. It is my understanding that the RCBS is better and faster than the Lyman. You will love it. These things can be kinda touchy when it comes to outside interference like cell phones or other electronic devices near by.

I have an RCBS Chargemaster combo. It is a pretty slick machine, and supposedly about as fast as you can get them. THat said, using an electronic dispenser will always be slower than throwing charges from a good measure. Sadly, powder measures don't work for all types of powders... I don’t know anything about Pact equipment. I really like my RCBS Chargemaster. Don’t get rid of your old balance beam scales though, the Chargemaster is electronic, it will burn out in time and need to be replaced or repaired.

I've owned both the Lyamn 1200 and the RCBS Chargemaster (currently) and didn't like the Lyman. Not that the Lyamn was inaccurate but, really slow by comparison and more difficult to clean the unused powder out of it when finished charging cases. I paid more for the RCBS and consider it money well spent. "I ask, sir, what is the Militia? It is the whole people. Thanks for the replies. I ordered an RCBS Chargemaster. I take it that your positive reports include large stick powders and bulky pistol flake. thanks kindly, dxr Happiness is a tight group

I bought a RCBS 1500 today, it is neet. The only draw back that I can see is that they warn about cold weather. My shop is out side in another building. I have heat and air but if Im not out there for like say a day or too I dont run the heat much over 45 or 50 Degrees. The instructions said not use it unless it was room temp and not to store it in cold weather cause it would ruin the scale. Iknowmyspellingsucks! Just got a new ChargeMaster Combo and got it set up last night. I'm absolutely impressed with it so far. Remember, forgivness is easier to get than permission.

I think getting a consistent power supply is crucial in relation to "accurizing" the electronic powder dispenser. Regards, Bob.
