Well, just got a basically new 220 Swift Rem 700 VS and I need some suggestions. These should be long range loads (if accurate in my rifle) for varmints. What powders/bullet weight? [Confused]

I got some good advice from JMeier when I asked the same question a few weeks back. Try 43 grains of IMR4831 or 36 grains of RL15,using Nosler BT's.These two loads shot one ragged hole in a 3 shot group at 100 yards.I was getting good accuracy with the old standby IMR4064,but would average 3/4-1.00".The previous two loads were a lot better.I am shooting a Remington 700 Classic. If you read this JMeier, thanks for the info.

Pop,
I bought the same rifle last year, fluted barrel.
Mine likes 38 grains of RL 15 behind 50gr Hornady VMax bullets, CCI 200 primers. Ragged one hole groups at 100 yds all day long.

I've shot Layne's recipe of 39.0grs of Re-15(courtesy Nosler #3)for 55gr projectiles,in five seperate Swifts,plus an added "smidge" for 39.5grs even(grin).

That is my bread and butter load, for rifles so chambered. 4000fps has been granted,in all barrels I've used it in.

My 700VS Swift doted on 39.5grs Re-15 and the 55gr V-Max(R/P brass).............
