I have a Remngton PSS in 300 WinMag. I have a pound of RELODER 25 that I would like to try. I have some 168gr Amax's, 180gr Amax's, Berger 190gr VLD's, 200gr Sierra's, and some 180gr Nosler BT's. I have been using IMR 4350 and RELODER 22 with not great results. I don't have an ALLIANT manual yet and I don't think their website helps much. I would like some real world experence with this powder. I would think that this powder would work better with the heavier bullets. Thanks, Keith

I use RL25 and 180 Nosler Ballistic Tips. I've used this same load in several custom and PSS rifles. I get 3150 fps and loads as accurate as the rifle, many sub .5 MOA and some in the .25 MOA range.

It's a pretty stiff load that I use so I'd say start at the 74 grain area and work up.

I use Norma cases, Fed 215M primers and OAL of 3.553. My load is 100% density and I settle the powder before seating the bullets.

wksinatl,

I just picked up a new Alliant Reloader's Guide.

For 300 Win. Mag. Alliant suggests the following:

Nosler 165 Partition (3.34" OAL) - 84.5 gr 3231 fps.

Sierra 180 SPBT (3.34" OAL) - 82.3 gr. 3112 fps.

Swift 200 SP (3.308" OAL) - 78.0 2868 fps.

All used Federal 215 primers.

Hope this helps.
Scott

Anyone tried R25 in the .300 WSM yet?

3100+ fps in a Winmag with 180 grain pills is smokin!

I have used R25 in a couple of 300 Win/Mags. I was real happy with high velocity and accuracy but found this powder to be very temperature sensitive. Since I hunt in areas with wide ranges of temperature I switched to a different powder.

I have had just wonderful luck with Rel 25 in the 300 Win, and contrary to Wayne, I find no temperature problems.
