Picked up a wooden box of Norinco 7.62x39 ammo 2- galvanized sardine cans 550 rounds each. 30 rounds on stripper clips wrapped in brown paper. Head stamp 31, 71 I think 31 is the plant and 71 the year? It is copper wash case with Burdain primer and has 123gr copper jacket steel core. powder 25grs. unknown. Big Question? Does it have corrosive or non corrosive primers and powder thanks Dave

I brought and shot cases of this it was called Mekong match as it is know to be very accurate. At the time I was buying we were paying 60.00 a case dealer cost. Yes it has a steel core bullet and the importation was stopped under Bush the first as armor piercing. Yes it has corrosive primers make sure you clean your rifle after shooting it.

You still have to clean the gas system every time you shoot it. It is not the shooting of corrosive ammo that is the problem it is not cleaning them after wards.

The Chinese ammo does have a steel core. It has value due to the importation ban. You should sell it and buy Wolf or Russian ammo instead of shooting it. Gulf of Tonkin Yacht Club NRA Endowment Member President NM MILSURPS
