Hi All,

I have an RCBS Carbide 3-Die set for 45ACP

Die-1 Size and De-Cap
Die-2 Case Mouth Expand and Flare
Die-3 Seat and taper crimp

I'm using cast bullets.

Will these set of dies work in a Dillon RL550B?

I am particularly worried about the sequence of the loading process as the belling die does not have a powder thru-hole.

If Chuck Norris dives into a swimming pool, he does not get wet. The swimming pool gets Chuck Norris.

pete,
you would need a powder die for your second station;take your flare die out of the mix and use powder die from dillon.i have used several this way in mine.dillon does not charge much;as long as you have the right shell plate it will work fine.hope it helped you.legend

What legend said, you will not use your belling die. I have RCBS dies in several calibers mounted in my 550B.

If they are not too difficult to get I think that you will find the Dillon dies worth the investment. The RCBS dies will work but the Dillon dies will work with smoother and with fewer problems. They have belled mouths and other refinements that make them work better on progressive presses.......................DJ

Most all dies for reloading will work in a Dillon or anyone else's press for that matter . They are a std. 7/8 14 thread configuration . I use RCBS dies as well as Dillon , Redding in my 550 .
First station is a sizer die, either neck or full length .It will expand case mouth and also decap ( knocks primer out ). It also so serves as the New primer station !.
Next or second die is a powder measure with appropriate bell for the caliber to be charged .
( Best to use a Dillon powder measure in it ).

Third is the bullet seating die fully adjustable for seating depth of bullet .
If using a fourth die it is either a crimp or taper style die for closing the case neck on the bullet . Hence the name crimper die , which are used in pistol cases more so than rifle cases .
Hope it was helpful ... salute
