gentlemen-
whose powder scale would you recommend? i'm currently using the Lee one that came in my Lee "starter kit". i would like to upgrage to something that is precise, not like the lee where you get the tow points pointing at each other. not knocking Lee products, or any of you guys that use the lee scale, it's just when it comes to firearms, reloading, and such, i try to be real anal about things. any recommendations would be appreciated.

p.s. shot my first reloads today. what a great obsession hobby i've gotten myself into !

I have a lyman 505 that is dead nuts,,I also have a pact bbk, which is fairly decent, and a lot faster read out,,it sometimes gets pissy and starts having "issues",[re program],but it's one of the first ones,,I think the newer ones are a bit more refined.make shure if you go digital that it has a ac adapter,,,mine does'nt and eats 9v batteries.Clay

I've been using a Lyman LE1000 for at least 10 years now and have no complaints. It is electronic and is very sensitive to any movement over or around it. And it has an a/c adapter which is what I always use. Also came with a 50gram weight for calibration. It measures in grams or grains and costs somewhere around $150.

I use a RCBS 505 and trust it very much. I just recently purchased a Pact BBK digital from midway and like it very well too.

I have had an RCBS 10-10 for years and never had a problem.
I have also sold them to guys that have used other scales as well as electronics and most have never turned back.
I know that I like mine anyways.

I like my Dillon beam scale. Most of the beam scales are made by the same company so, there will be very little difference in their performance.

I would stay away from the digitals if you want exact precision. I've found them to vary to much and they also have to be recalibrated too often. The digitals are hard to trickle w/ as well.

Good Luck!

I recently grabbed an older used RCBS / O'haus
5-10 off ebay for $20.00 It is the same as a 505 only has a micromiter that makes getting to with-in 1/10th grain or less easy.

There are usually a couple on there for bid.

My big advice is to get a RCBS powder trickler too. Then you can watch the scale "zero out" when adding as little as one flake of powder.

Ohaus 10-10 for about 30 years. Works good and accurate with the Check weights.

If you go digital, go with the AC adaper and never turn the power off. I am a chemist and we never turn off the digital scales, power ALWAYS ON. Most of digital go to 0.0001 gram.
This will greatly aid the accuracy.
