Just ran across a sizeable supply of SRB-118 ball powder. The little data with it suggests it is something similar to WC-844 or WC-846, or AA-2230... Does anone know for sure if the ame powder has been sold under another name, for which there might be dependable loading data? My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still. | ||

WC844 and AA2230 are in the same ballpark, but 846 is more in the BL-C or 2525 area. Looks like the prudent thin to do is payy all shipping costs and deliver it to my house for disposal. I have not seen that designation for milsurp/OEM powder, but with the limited information I think I would shoot some begining AA 2230 loads across a chronograph and see how your data compares with the listed velocity data. TCLouis The little factual data I have (printed on the container labels) seems to indicate it may be a bit slower burning than 2230...it recommends 27.0 grs of it with 69 gr. bullets in the .223.... I have already used roughly 24 pounds of it in the .30-BR, shooting from 29.0 to 30.0 grains of it under 210 gr. cast bullets with no problems. Was looking to see if it had another identity so I could more easily develop loads for it in a number of other cartridges. It's always nice to be able to start out with some known minimum loads. Digging in my stash yesterday, I found 32 pounds of it I had forgotten I had, so figured I might as well load up some other stuff with it as I no longer shoot cast bullet benchrest.
