I have gone to a new brick of cci primers for large pistol.. the last box I opened was a copper brown primer and the previous color was yellow.. Is that normal? the primer dimentions for both were the same (in millimeters, and smaller than large rifle.. thanks dave hunter, blackpowder shooter, photographer, gemology, trap shooter, duck hunter, elk, deer, etc..

Maybe just a dye they used for identifying that batch. I'll hazard the guess that all primers they made at that factory in that year were copper brown. Last year the color of choice was yellow. Next year it will be red. Who knows? I have seen various colors of primer in the Large Rifle sparkers I use. I never thought the color meant anything as long as it ignited the powder. I am kind of fond of the purple CCI ones. I think they look nice...
