GSF1200,

Sorry I forget to consult my books. The .275 Rigby is the same as 7X57 Mauser.

I have seen bullets from 139 gr to 175 gr with RWS cases.

The reload datas with belgian powders for this caliber are :

Powder like WW785 or IMR4831 (very close but not the same)

139gr bullet 54 gr for a velocity of 2775 fps
150gr bullet 53 gr for a velocity of 2540 fps
168gr bullet 50 gr for a velocity of 2410 fps
175gr bullet 49 gr for a velocity of 2320 fps

Hope this can help you.

The best powder according to my chronograph by about 150 FPS or more is H-414, and it is very accurate in all the 7x57's I have shot it in..In your Mauser I bet you have a very long throat in which case it will crank right up there with the 280 Rem......Be sure and work up the load with H414 as most loading manuals are way short of max..My Brnos have a very long throat and hold about 8 grs. more than a standary chamber...I seat a 175 gr. Nosler to half way down the case neck, now that is a long throat...I get 2700 with that bullet and 2916 with a 160....

don't try this in a standard chamber.

Hi GFS1200: I got started using H414 after posting a similar question earlier about the 7mm Mauser. My load is 48.2 grains of H414 with a Federal 210 Match primer inside a Remington case under a 162 grain Hornady boattail. This load is seated to .005 inch from the bottom of the canlures and it chronographs at 2,820 fps in my 23.5 inch barrel CZ550 American. For me, this is one smokin' load. Tom Purdom

I just bought a new Mauser 7x57 barrel 19.5" long. I'm putting it on a DWM 1908 action I have, it will go in a Bishop stock a friend gave me. The total cost on this rifle is going to be about $90.
