Whats This Mark On This Case?
I picked up 100 pcs. of 270 WSM brass at a local gun show last week and was wondering what was going on with one case. It has a perfect circle embeded in the brass just under the shoulder about 1/16 down about 3/16 in diameter.

I hope it doesn't look like this.

Take a gem clip, straighten it out then bend the end to a 45 and sharpen the tip.

Use it to feel the inside of the case for any cracks. If you feel a place, then it is fixing or has separated. Throw it away.

Brass is cheap.

Back to the still.

Spelling, I don't need no stinkin spelling

Circular indentation 3/16-1/4" in diameter in the side of the case?

Sounds like it was fired in a test barrel...

Yup...that's my guess. That's what they look like.

I'm not sure if they're safe to reload or not. I was given a barrel full of them once and I trashed the whole lot. Never reloaded a single one.

The test barrel theory sound good to me. Only one round in the lot.

I would take that case, and any other like it, and simply put them into your "collection of weird shit" box.
