Red, For the most part if you see a 280 Rem load you can use it with confidence in a 7X64 cartridge. My favorites are the 120 and 140gr Flat base bullets, but my powders are not American so I cannot help you much. 140gr and 52.0gr of S365 (IMR4350 equiv) gives 3025fps good luck, it is a great cartridge. Cheers pete

Red, I agree with Pete's statement that .280 Rem data can be used for guidance in loading the 7x64. In my experience (with the standard long-throated barrels) the latter can accomodate somewhat heavier powder charges. A couple of loads form my files: Grs Powder Vel. THanx Guus. The CZ rifle I have has a very long throat. The oal on the sierra 175 SBT is 3.38 with 53 gr IMR4350 at 2640fps. Ive been primarily working with IMR4350 and using Ken Waters loadings as a giude. Though my charge weights are 2 grains heavyier than his. I will have to look at the Vihta Vuori powders.

Red Rhino, If you really want to make that 7x64 cook then work up a max load with H414 and any bullet...Mic your head expansion and don't be surprised when you are way over book max (as much as 4 to 10 grs. in some guns)..Keep and eye out on primers and head marks at the same time..standard procedure...I just keep using the same case over and over until I find a max load and this will tell you the whole story as the primer pockets may get loose first with some brass, so you get a better over all picture...When I have peaked a max load I reload and shoot that cartridge at least 10 times and at that point I have my load, now if it will just shoot, but thats another story, it usually does however... The velocity with that powder just might put you into shock.... ------------------

358 norma 79 gr of RL19 under a 250gr Speer Grand Slam. You will need a drop tube to settle the powder. usualy at the base of the neck.3.33"C.O.A.L.. I have worked up to 82 gr of VV560 under a Nosler BT. "for comparison only 84.5 gr of vv.560 will fit in the case with out compression. <MY RIFLE, HAVE NEVER SHOT THIS LOAD>" just wanted to know how much would fit.Norma case.Have some loads for 225's at 3000 fps but not with me.

thanx RCH for the load, but Im loading 78gr of IMR4350 and its a dirty load. Are you having the same prob with RL19? The best CLEAN loads that Ive tested starts with IMR4320 and quicker. I wonder if its the 24" barrel, though im using CCI250 primers hmmmm [This message has been edited by Red Rhino (edited 07-23-2001).]

RED I shoot IMR 4350 and 250 gr Speer and I don't have any problems with the barrel being dirty. What primer are you using? I have had good sucess with the CCI 250 primer in this calibre.

I was using reformed 338 and 300 win mag brass IMR4350 and CCI250, 24" barrel. It fouled the hell out of the barrel with either burnt residue or unburned. I would run a patch through after 2 shots and it would be black. So I switched to 358 Norma brass and for some reason the load is a lot cleaner at 77.5 grs. The barrel is broke in
