What is the purpose of the single-serving brass cases individually packaged in a plastic bag I see in the reloading aisle, selling for $5-7 bucks a pop?

They just look like standard cases to me. What makes them more special than the bulk stuff?

Are these for some rare or specialist cartridges?

We always buy our brass in bulk.

We sort them out ourselves.

First check the primer pocket to determine if it is threaded. The Stoney Point OAL gage uses single cases that have a threaded primer pocket.

Many years ago I made a tester that did not require drilling and then tapping the primer pocket. If I measured the length of the chamber from the bolt face to the rifles lands I only wanted to do it once meaning I wanted all the bullet hold I could get; -bullet hold put the Stony Point tool into a bind,
