xphunter,

You don't say which version of the improved case you are using. One of the nice things about the Ackley design is that you can use a middle of the book load as a starting point and work up from there. Good luck. [Smile]

I just picked up the new Sierra manual and unless I've recently lost my mind, it has load dope for the 250 Ackley. I don't have it in front of me, but I remember remarking to myself that they've included lots of esoteric and new data.

I have some load data for the .250 Savage AI (40 degree shoulder). Had one for about two years. You'll see better results, at least velocity wise, using the slower burning powders. H414, W760, the various 4350's and Rel 19 are good ones to start with. Rel 22 and N-MRP also worked good for me. I have specifics if you'd like them.

JKuczmarski,
Would love to have your data.

Shayne & redial,
Would also like to get the data from the new sierra manual. My manuals are not that new.

I have alot of data for this particular cartridge. Most of it is for the .257 deer hunting bullet weights: 100, 115 and 120 grains. My rifle had a 21" barrel and I stopped when velocities for 100 grainers reached 2,900 fps and 115/120's at 2,700 fps. The few times when I did exceed these speeds, accuracy went to hell so that told me I had gone too far. My best loads were: 100 gr Speer SP, 42 grs H414, WLRM primer, 2,922 fps, ES 36 and an average of 0.788" 3-shot groups @ 100 yds; same bullet, 42.5 grs H4350, same primer, 2,918 fps, ES 66 and an average of 0.817" 3-shot groups @ 100 yds; 115 gr Nosler BT, 40.5 gr IMR 4350, same primer, 2,710 fps, and an average of 0.822" 3-shot groups @ 100 yds; and 117 gr Sierra PH, 42.5 gr N-MRP, same primer, 2,680 fps, and an average of 0.887" 3-shot groups @ 100 yds. I'd drop 3-4 grains each on these loads and work up using a chronograph to check your velocities which can tell you where you are at w/respect to pressure.
