<Bruce Gordon>Any information on the 6.5 JDJ ???
I was looking over the cartridge loading information shown in the LoadBase 1.0 software and noticed the 6.4 JDJ cartridge. It looks really interesting with just the right case capacity for my purpose. Does anybody have any information on this wildcat such as the parent case, ease of forming, performance with a rifle length barrel, etc.
Thanks

Ol` JoeI the 6.5 JDJ case is based on the 225 Win (read hard to find brass) for use in the Contender by J.D. Jones. I "think" the vel ran ~2000/2100 fps with 140gr bullets from a 14" bbl.
Sorry I can`t help more.....Joe

<Michael Swickard>The 6.5 JDJ is based on the 225 Win case. They still make this cases as far as I know. SSK Industries (JD Jones) who developed this cartridge has the brass.
The 6.5 performes extremely well. 120 grain bullets out of a 14 in barrel are running 2400 fps and kill way bigger than the diameter of the bullet. Most 6.5 bullets are designed for the older cases ie Jap, 6.5x55 etc. therefore expand well at pistal velocities.
Bottomline , it's a keeper.
