With the great primer shortage, have found some Russian primers, brand name Tula.
Don't know anything about them but since there is nothing else ?

Any members tried them or heard any reviews ?

thanks.

"Modern" primer technology is well over a century old. Tula has produced hundreds of millions of primers for various wars and other endeavors. If they don't know how to make a dependable primer by now I'd be very surprised. I wouldn't hesitate to use them and depend on them until and unless they are otherwise demonstrated to be unsuitable.

Somehow I don't think a "Tula" primer would sell well in south Africa. Maybe for silenced rifles!

I recall reading somewhere that Tula and Wolf came out of the same factory. Haven't used Tula but have used a lot of Wolfs, they work just fine.

Tula and Wolf are the same. The only thing to remember is that "magnum" in the Russian world relates to primer cup hardness and not flame intensity.

They are just as reliable as any american primers I have used.

I don't get why they won't sell in SA.
TULA is an old company and their primers are good; especially if you can't get any US made ones.

I had never used any until recently. I have fired 30-40 of the rounds i made with them in .223. No problems so far.

You can check with the cheap guys at Cast Boolits. They shoot a lot of Tula boxer primers without any problems.

probably because 'tula' in many of the African languages means 'Keep quiet' or 'Hush'.
