While the usual rule is "longer is better" when it comes to OAL, I have found my 300 H&H likes it shorter. My groups dramatically improved when I went from 3.600 to 3.515 with 200 grn bullets. Jim fur, feathers, & meat in the freezer  "Pass it on to your kids" | ||

That "rule" comes from people who read and repeat a lot of nonsense but reload, experiment and shoot little. Most competant reloaders find the same as you. | |||

Each rifle is different and has their won sweet spot on OAL. Which 200gr. bullet are you using? I am loading a Nosler 200gr. Partition at 3.666 OAL.in my Remington 721. | |||
