Probably get better resulst in the big bore forum with this.......but it is reloading.

what are peoples experiences with these two and which did they find was better, what where the starting loads ??

I don't shoot 404J but 416/404, which uses an otherwise un-modified 404 case with a shortened neck. My load for RL-15 is 75gr with 400 grain bullet and my load for Varget is 74grains with a 400 grain bullet Nosler Partition.

I think you could safely start about 2 grain below this. You should check Steve's Reloading Pages also. He has a lot of data ovr there. Kudude

Best I can tell there is no 423 data on Steve's pages. How warm do you want to go? I think I loaded all the way to 78 gr with the 340. Shot well. Good Hunting.


Although cartridge selection is important there is nothing that will substitute for proper first shot placement. Good hunting, "D"

Low pressure and 2350-2400 fps with the 400 gr woodleigh os what I would want. My rifleis on a 1909 m98....still wip however.
