A friend of mine has purchased a .450 Dakota. Actually it is a custom gun built on a Dakota action. He has been having a hard time finding load information. He plans on using 500 grain bullets and possibly 550 grain Woodleigh solids. I believe Dakota likes H4350, but do not know charges they suggest. Hopefully some of you guys have loaded for this caliber and can offer suggestions. He knows the cartridge will put out more, but would like to stay in the 2200-2300 fps range. Thanks in advance.

...Taken from DAKOTA ARMS load chart. 04/28/1994 H-4350 105grs 2342fps MAX 110grs 2560fps IMR -4350 104grs 2315fps 110grs 2470fps IMR-4831 110grs 2395fps 112grs 2444fps I see you're looking for loads slightly less than the above. I'd suggest reducing the powder charge a step at a time (5%) and check the velocity until you achieve 2200-2300fps. Good luck

PM your email and I can send you the load sheets that Dakota sent me. Also, PM AR member Andy. He has done a ton of load testing for the 450 Dakota. He sent me a bunch of load data.
