Snake, I went through my ISPC rulebook pretty good and cant find what you are talking about, could you give me a page number? Did you have a Crony and have problems with it to make you feel like you have to bash it? Or did you really never own one. I would think that all the chronagraphs might even use the same IC chip and timeing quartz. I wouln't think that each would manufactor their own IC chips, they probably purchase them from TI, Intel, AMD etc. I have been chronyed at ISPC clubs with a Chrony.

The only one I see ranting and raving here with no facts to back his statements up is SRR. Sounds like one of those "My buddy told me this" and that makes it gospel! SRR I'd cut your losses and admit you are "mistaken" and apologize to Jeffeosso. I personally know him to a forth right honest person. You sir, seem to be something else. Perhaps we know you by another name on this or another forum?

IHKen is quite close to the truth about the internal electronics. There just isn't much difference. You can design 10 PPM/degree C accuracy for amazingly little money. If you need better than that, 1 PPM/degree C is only a buck or two more.

I just had my Chrony out today. I found something I really don't like about it, which may be a fault of all Chronos. You tell me. I was shooting under a tree during a bright afternoon. Without the screen I got an average velocity of 2,578 fps with a StdDev of 99. Put the screen on it and the average velocity went up to 3,089fps! The StdDev evened out to 24fps. Both are 10 shots with the same rifle and load. Now, I can see the vels being messed up in the first case -maybe leaves moving, etc. But the second case really messes me up. The load was 24gr of Re15 and a 75gr Hornady out of an AR15. There just ain't no way that load is breaking 3,000fps! What do you believe? Shouldn't the Chono give some warning about falacious results?

I noticed something interesting the other night.. Rick Jamison, who is ON the Oelher site and a huge advocate of chronograpghs... Was in the mindway master reloading catalog, praising the SHOOTING CHRONY!!! How wierd is that? Jeffe

If your Chrony is in the shade, with screens on, your results will be peculiar. My rule is to only shoot in full sun, toward the middle of the day, with screens on. If there are clouds, and they are thin enough that you can still see the shadow of your tripod and Chrony, you're still OK.

I just got an F-1 Chrony with remote display, and have only used it once. I wanted to try it out so I used it in a light rain without skyscreens. Velocities seemed to be as expected, but I'll run them again on a sunny day with the screens on. On a side note, instead of buying a remote/button thingy to access the statistical data incorporated into all Chronys, I bought a $1 pair of headphones from the dollar store. Splice both ends and plug the stereo jack into the chrony. Everytime you touch the wires together it gives you the next statistical calculation. These include Shot #, String #, High, Low, Avg, Extreme Spread, and Std. Dev. I'll gurantee that this works and it will save you a few bucks if you want access to the statistical fxns.

Im digging up bones here! Yall can thank all the folks that write in "use the search feature" etc etc. Anyway, I had a chrony for a short time and found it to work just fine. With me being a gadget freak I sold the chrony and purchased a Pact Pro. I really like this unit and it seems to me (NOTE that I state "seems to me") that it produces less none recorded shots. Now, the reason for this resurrection is Im searching for reviews on the new PACT IR sensors. Havent really found any so if there is someone using the IR sensors on the Pact I would appreciate your observations. Thanks, Kelly Double Rifle Shooters Society

I like my Chrony, easy to use and consistant. Have learned a couple of things however. First, replace those steel sunshade supports with dowels from the hardware store, it's a lot easier on the machine when you hit one. Second, get one with the remote readout and protect the front of the machine if you shoot blackpowder, those wads will tear up the lcd screen in short order. Best.

Shooting chronies are sensitive to lighting conditions. In the winter time, the sun is very low even during mid-day, and I get weird or missed readings with the chrony. With more overhead sunlight it seems to work fine. __________________________________________________ The AR series of rounds, ridding the world of 7mm rem mags, one gun at a time.

I had a Pro chrony for about 5 years and used it alot.It always worked never any problems.Well it happened I gut shot it with my 35 rem contender.I bought a Chrony Beta ( the blue with remote) and in my opinion it is a piece of !#%&*.This thing will read the velocity sometimes most of the time it won't "ERROR".I sent it back to factory the replaced the front eye and it worked most of the time. Now it is on the blink again.I paid $99.00 for the Pro chrony and wish I had done it again instead of the Chrony. Sorry for the venting.
