cleaning out a die

I purchased a set of .338 Win mag dies (RCBS brand) new a couple of years ago. Threw away the receipt (which I see one needs to return the dies to the factory)

Upon use I now notice that there is quite a gouge on the next area of the brass. I can see in the die the area that is causing this gouging. Its hard steel, as though that one little spot didn't get machined out.

So, what can I do to remove this malady? File?
what?

Can't help you with a cure to the problem but even tho you don't have the receipt, I'd contact RCBS. I'm willing to bet that when you explain the situation to them, they'll make it right in a heartbeat.
I've done some stupid things (read my fault) to some of my RCBS stuff and they have NEVER charged me for replacements/spares, etc.
If I were you, I'd call 'em & discuss it first.

Unless you're the lead dog, the scenery never changes.

I never thought that I'd live to see a President worse than Jimmy Carter. Well, I have.

Try some copper solvent on the die.
