Would primers purchased in 2006 be reliable for a dangerous game hunt in 2009? "There are worse memorials to a life well-lived than a pair of elephant tusks." Robert Ruark

As long as they have been properly stored (cool, dark and dry) they should be just fine.

Like Craigste said, as long as they were properly stored, no problem! Depending on how many you have load a few up and shoot them for sight in, practice and load developement. If you encounter no problems then have confidence in the primers and the loads. ******************************************************* For every action, there is an equal and opposite malfunction.

I have some I bought in 1982 that I am still using with no problems.

I have read of a test on live primers that was conducted to see what would neutralize them and it was way harder than those conducting the experiment ever thought. They tried water and the results of soaking them were short lived. Even using oil on them was a little iffy. I don't think normal storage of them would cause them to not function in any length of time. Dennis Life member NRA

I just used some Fed 215 magnum primers on my wolf hunt 2 months ago that I bought in 1991. Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my guns

Stored dry and reasonable cool they will out live you regardless of your age !!!!. I have some primers which are Mercuric type in Wooden trays have to be from the turn of the century because there's a single digit date on the box cover !. I used some last year with NO ILL RESULTS !. I did clean the pizz out of the bore so as to remove any of the nasty fouling as well as the bolt just in case .
