I went out to the desert this morning to sight in a Firestorm .22 pistol and took along my chronograph to test some .40 loads. I got the .22 sighted in and was pleased with the groups at 25 yards at 2.5-3.5 ". I shot the .40 loads through a Sig 226 and with a 180g cast slug got an average 1172 fps and with the 155 cast slug got an average of 1320 fps using Power Pistol. Accuracy was wonderful with group sizes running about the same as the .22. I used the 155g. load to shoot a small buck about 4-5 years ago while out chuckar hunting at around 35-40 yards. Those Sigs are accurate.

What load are you using to get 1170fps w/ 180gr lead? You may be running over pressure. LIFE IS NOT A SPECTATOR'S SPORT!

A visit to the Alliant website will show some reloading data for their powders, and these loads are at or under their recommendations for the Power Pistol in a .40S&W.
