Does anyone have a RCBS Charge Master Combo?
Is this something I need to put on my wish list?
Or is this just a nice toy?

How much more accurate is it than a normal powder drop?

I like mine, and use it for all my loading these days. The previuos versions of automatic dispenser and scale systems only worked with extruded powders, the Chargemaster works with all powder.

Is it an ideal tool?? No, it is a tad too slow for that, and it still does not get all charges 100% right. But it is a pretty darn good compromise if I can't have the ideal.

www.6mmBR.com did a couple of write-ups which are worth reading:

An outstanding product. I still use a Harrell's measure to throw very small charges for handguns, and ball type powders such as AA1680, W748, etc....I would highly recommend it. Although slower than a Harrell's, I can be seating bullets, while listening with my left good ear for the tone which indicates that the RCBS has completed a cycle.

I use mine for everything except for the 223, I still use the dispenser. The Chargemaster has made small batches very easy and quick and all charges are measured. I would hate to go back to the balance beam

Absolutely well made and well thought out piece of equipment. Won't be without one anymore.

I don't own one, but bought one for my oldest son for his birthday. He shoots high power competetively and loads a lot of 223 ammo. He likes it!

I've owned two. They both broke. Don't remember how the first one died but on the second one some of the keys just didn't work right. Hit a 2 and you got a 3. One entire row of keys was one place off.

The first one RCBS replaced. Eventually they offered to replace the second one but by then I had thrown it away.

Only RCBS product that I would not recommend.

I love mine!!!! I load alot of 22-250 and 300 Jarrett and the charge master will speed your reloading alot. Never had aproblem with mine. A buddy of my had to reload a few rounds at my house and when he used my charge master he also fell in love with it. Anything that will make a job easier and fast, how could you not love it? They cost a lot, but well worth the money!!!!

the chargemaster is all i load with these days. although i can load 45acp faster with a manual measure, i like the reassurance of measuring every charge when only throwing 4.5 grains of tightgroup. the rcbs manual measure will throw off by as much as .3 on either side of the setting. it will really speed up rifle case charging. no more hand trickling to get the right charge. when loading pistol, the first throw will usually be high. i don't know how it does it but, the computer learns that it went over for what you requested and quickly gets back on track. i've checked the scale on many occasions against my 505 beam scale and it's been right on.

you won't look back

The RCBS chargemaster is an excellent product. My only complaint would be that it is a little slow in metering some charges but this is an acceptable trade give the accuracy of the machine.
