loads with Barnes bullets

Since I've now got the reloading bug I thought I would try to develop a load for the 7mm STW with a 175 gr bullet. At the local gun store I ended up buying a box of Barnes X bullets (about all they had). The owner of the store said that because of their longer length and greater bearing surface that the Barnes will generate higher pressures and that I should begin with lighter than normal loads. Does this sound right? I do not have the Barnes reloading manual, but would the starting loads be lower than what I would find with the Nosler manual for the same weight bullet?

Thanks,
Rick
