I have a Weatherby that was rechambered from 7mm-08 to 284 Winchester. I have a load that shoots under a half inch at 100 yards (150 grain Sierra Game Kings) but the bullet has to be seated WAY out. OAL is 3.086". There isn't much grip on the bullet. It doesn't seem to move. I had some in the chamber to see if it moved under recoil. Will the long seated bullet be a problem?

Leave well-enough alone. Worry about your bullets moving when you actually see them move. Crimping an uncannelured bullet is one way to give your quarry a sporting chance, since it will likely make your groups much more random.
