Been useing R15 with 165,180 gr bullets with good accuracy in my pre64 m70

Thought id play with another powder with 165 bullets

The only other powder I have that is listed for 308 in my references is some imr3031 but it hasnt been accurate, at least in my 9.3x57

Thinking of getting some varget, never used any before or imr 4064

What powder do you like with 165 bullets in a 308 bolt gun, non autoloader?

MAny swear by Varget, by I did not get the best accuracy. I like RL15, VV150 is also very good w/ 165gr & heavier bullets.

With 165-168 grs, I have had good results with VV150. Varget is supposedly also good.

i have had great success with varget. i also use blc2 as a back up. i am looking forward to trying rl 17 with 175smk to see what we get.

ive been having great luck with ramshot tac. Personaly i think its the same powder as blc2

4064 in either IMR or AA versions have also worked well for me.

Can you send me what your using for 4895, I'm having the exact opposite result, my groups suck.

I've had excellent luck with VV150 with 175gr Sierra's. I like Varget with 165-168's.

Varget is one of my favorite powders overall. It works great in 223 with 69-80gr bullets, 308's love it, so does 376 Stery, 375 H&H, 416 Rem Mag and others. Definately a Kegworthy powder....................DJ

IMR4064!! I use a lot of Varget too but I prefer 4064. Works very well in 30.06 too.
