Guys, Here's a link to some pictures of some of our fairly comman primers being fired. There is no way to actually tell which would do the best job but on large cases it looks like either the RWS or the Remingtom 9.5's have the edge because of the volume of flame produced. http://www.6mmbr.com/PrimerPix.html | ||

Thank you for the link. Today's primers,being non-corrosive are nothing like the primers in our countries past. The government requirement for the .45-70 primer was that it must throw sparks out of the Trap Door Springfield rifle's barrel at least 6" in a darkened room to be accepted. These primers were Fulminate of Mercury and other mixtures which are no longer used today due to the corrosive tendency's of the salts and the attacking of the brass cases. with today's Ball Powders it would seem that the Remington and WRS primers would be your best choice to prevent delayed ignition.
