I shot a box of winchester 30-06 150 gr silvertips bought at walmart through my pre 64 model 70 sighting in a new scope. When I was cleaning the brass getting ready to reload i found 11 of20 pieces had splits / cracks at the base of the neck, some had 2 cracks. I had shot another box of new ammo through the rifle previously and reloaded them and the brass was ok. Anyone else experience a bad brass that cracks after once fired rick

Could be poorly annealed or overly hard brass. Might also be an oversize chamber neck.

Had the same thing happen with a box of Federal 25-06. Only bad Federal brass I've ever come across, so far. - Dan
