Ballistics Program
Hey Y'all:

Maybe y'all could save me some money and help me chose the right ballistics program or choose not to use one.

I want a ballistics program that will predict the trajectory of a load, suggest loads with certain powders (or at least have a big database of loads) and serve as a reloading log. What's the best that would fit that criteria?

Here are the ones I've looked at. I appreciate comments from users.

AccuLoad / Calculoader $89.99

Load From A Disk $59

RSI Shooting Lab $99.95

Barnes $49.95 (External Ballistics Only)

RCBS

Sierra $64.95

Thanks,
QD

I do not use my ballistics program for loading data because with 45-70 it comes up with some loads that I KNOW my TC would not survive and don't know if a Ruger #1 would either. For other things it seems to be in the ball park, but so are all of my manuals.

Like it for what ifs with bullets and trajectories though, but Q-ball will do those pretty well.

Just my opinion of course

I can't recommend Accuload II. The database is incomplete and the software will often not calculate loads, even when all other data has been inputed. I e-mailed them about the problem and subsequently got a CD with "fixes" on it, but the problems remain.

I have Accuload II and am completely satisfied it will do all I want and more the data base is enormous and it is user-friendly they had some problems at first but after putting it through many different test it has preform flawlessly, I recommend the Accuload product If you have any question call 1-800-231-5419 and ask for Ed. If you have a suggestion or a problem they will listen instead of blowing you off, tell Him Old Timer sent you they are good people.

the point blank ballistics software at huntingnut.com is the CATS MEOW!!! no more saving targets with written info on them. this program allows you to recreate your target with all the relevant information. it's better than sliced bread [Big Grin]
